Background:
SpaFlo was commissioned to create a bespoke stainless steel style swimming pool to showcase the view over the estuary and maximise space on the terrace. The request was to create an outdoor pool to both relax in and swim in, complete with spa and counter-current swimming features. The solution was clear, Richard cleverly designed a beautiful bespoke resistance Swimspa which extended the living space so the client could swim in complete comfort and take in the views.
The key challenge was how the pool would be delivered and installed as the house was located at the top of a 33% gradient hill.
Solution:
The pool design is rectangular with dimensions of 5.4m x 2.95m x 1.4m deep and completed with integrated steps. The SpaFlo designed resistance swimming pool uses counter-current technology to create an endless swimming experience. The Swimspa is also remote-control operated through a downloadable app. The all-in-one design is completed with a seating area incorporating a 12 jet system for the integrated hot tub.
Completed in Widnes the pool was transported to Dartmouth and then transferred onto a locally contracted car & trailer. The pool was unusually placed on its side on the trailer. Driven by a local firefighter, at 6am to avoid disruption, the car ascended the steep incline of the hill up to the property where it was then lifted into place on the terrace.
