Spa and Wellness Design Trends for 2025/26

The world of wellness continues to evolve — and with it, the way we design our most intimate, restorative spaces. At SpaFlo, we’ve always believed that a hot tub / spa is more than just a feature — it’s health through water, an integrated part of our health and wellbeing. Whether nestled in the garden of a private residence or integrated seamlessly into a commercial wellness centre, bespoke spas are becoming the heart of modern outdoor and indoor living.

Here are the key spa and wellness design trends for 2025 that are shaping the way our clients live, indulge and restore.

1. Minimalist Luxury

Minimalism hasn’t gone anywhere. Clean lines, smooth finishes, and natural palettes are dominating spa aesthetics in 2025. Stainless steel – with its modern, reflective beauty – remains the material of choice for those seeking elegance and unmatched quality. More clients are opting for monolithic spa structures, meaning it blends effortlessly into its surroundings through clever landscaping and design. The added touches of well-placed lighting and landscaping choices can really add drama and texture to a wellbeing space.

2. Indoor-Outdoor Fluidity

One of the biggest trends this year is the blurring of indoor and outdoor spaces.  To accompany a perfectly weather-proof outdoor kitchen, clients are blending their outdoor spaces into true year-round livable relaxation and wellbeing zones.  The UK is not best known for its agreeable Winter weather, but with clever biophilic design, weatherproofing, lighting and the right budget, anything is possible.

Even in its simplest form, we see luxurious spa areas being integrated into weatherproofed patios which flow directly from an open plan kitchen/diner inside the home, bringing the outdoors in.  And why not? A dip in a steaming hot tub spa is just what is needed during the colder months when there is the added benefit of contrast water therapy

3. Tranquility, at home

Anyone designing their own bespoke hot tub is aiming to create a spa-like experience at home.  The modern luxury spa is no longer just a hot tub in the corner. It’s a personalised wellness destination, in the privacy of your own home.

In 2025, we’re seeing an increase in clients commissioning entire wellbeing zones: hot tub spa pools, plunge pools, loungers, integrated lighting, sound systems, aromatherapy modules, and even dedicated contrast bathing tubs like our SpaFlo ContraSpa (Hot and Cold Tub).

4. Personalised, progressive technology

Smart spa features are going beyond timers and temperature controls. In 2025, technology is available to fine-tune ambience — think colour-changing LED lighting, automated water jets, integrated audio systems, and app-controlled wellness and rehabilitation routines.

With the astonishing rate of AI technology advancements, we can only watch this space at what else is yet to come as we move into 2026.

5. Sustainability

Environmental consciousness is now integral to luxury. Clients want spa solutions that are both indulgent and intelligent. At SpaFlo, our stainless steel spas are built to last decades, require less maintenance, and are fully recyclable — an important consideration for eco-conscious property owners.

Energy-efficient heating systems, counter-current resistance swim units, insulated shells, and water-saving circulation tech are increasingly being specified in bespoke designs.

6. Architectural Integration

Rather than being standalone units, modern spas are increasingly seen as architectural features — integrated into terraces, gardens, rooftops, yachts or interiors with precision.

We often work alongside interior designers and landscapers to create the perfect aesthetic with an integrated hot tub, spa or swimming pool.  Some of our pools have been hidden under retractable integrated wooden decking, or with a glass-fronted window blending subtly into the surroundings.

An increasingly popular trend we see is the integration of hot tub spa and swimming pool.  Using counter current units, even a very small swimming pool can be transformed into an endless swimming experience, allowing clients to have all the benefits of both a swimming pool and a hot tub in a very compact space.  Counter current units can even be retrofitted into existing tubs, transforming a wellness experience into a fitness and rehabilitation opportunity too.

7. Blending with Nature

Expect to see stone, wood, water and plants come together in softer, more organic ways. While stainless steel forms the core structure of SpaFlo tubs and spas, many designs incorporate living walls, soft timber decking and pergolas, stone rockeries and fire features to enhance the sensory atmosphere using natural materials.

Living walls can be cleverly designed to provide privacy screens and divides, whilst helping a spa to blend in subtly to the surroundings.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Wellness in 2025 is all about personalisation - to a person's health status, lifestyle, goals and biology.  Water has endless health benefits, both physically and mentally, so it's no surprise that more people are building water wellness into their own private living spaces. Whether it's a minimalist spa for quiet reflection or a dramatic hot tub pool built for entertaining, SpaFlo’s bespoke stainless steel designs are setting the benchmark for timeless health and wellbeing environments.
